How is the tulli exam built?

tulli practice exams have the same length and layout as the official DUO practice exams. The questions are all our own. You get a group of questions per theme, each with a picture.

Three sample questions

These three questions come from tulli practice exam 1. Pick your answer first, then open "Show the answer". The questions are in Dutch, like the exam.

Question 1

Listen

Mirela is nieuw in Nederland.
Ze heeft nog nooit gewerkt.
Waar vraagt ze een uitkering aan?

  1. Bij het UWV.
  2. Bij de SVB.
  3. Bij de gemeente.
Show the answer

The right answer: C. Bij de gemeente.

tulli explains: Without a work history in the Netherlands you ask the gemeente for bijstand. The UWV is for people who have worked here, for example for a WW-uitkering.

Question 2

Listen

Rik wil weten hoeveel vakantiedagen hij heeft.
Waar kan hij dat het beste lezen?

  1. Op zijn jaaropgave.
  2. In zijn belastingaangifte.
  3. In zijn arbeidscontract.
Show the answer

The right answer: C. In zijn arbeidscontract.

tulli explains: The arbeidscontract (or the cao that applies) describes your rights and duties, such as holidays and working hours. Neither the jaaropgave nor the tax return does.

Question 3

Listen

Iemand belt Wen en vraagt namens de Belastingdienst om haar DigiD-wachtwoord.
Wat doet Wen?

  1. Ze geeft het wachtwoord.
  2. Ze geeft het alleen als hij haar naam weet.
  3. Ze geeft het niet.
Show the answer

The right answer: C. Ze geeft het niet.

tulli explains: Never give your DigiD password or sms code to someone who phones you, even if they say they are the government. Hang up and call the organisation yourself.

KNM tips

  1. Read the question twice. Watch the small words: "may", "must" and "only if".
  2. Learn which organisation does what: the gemeente (municipality), the UWV, the SVB, the Belastingdienst (tax office) and the GP. Many questions are about this.
  3. Look at the picture, but answer the question. The picture only helps you understand the situation.
  4. Cross out the answers that are clearly wrong first. Two left? Think about what you learned in the lesson.
  5. Read the explanation after every answer, also when you got it right. You learn the facts behind the question.
